The New BC Cancer Agency Cancer Centre in Prince George

Signage and Wayfinding

Plenary Health has further responded to the BC Cancer Agency’s need to operate a centre that is welcoming to visitors through a design that is easy for patients to move through. Within the centre, wayfinding (the way in which people orient and navigate themselves in a physical space) is straightforward and destination points such as the reception and care desks are immediately visible upon leaving an elevator or arriving inside the main entry.

The main entry opens onto a two-storey atrium which acts as a wayfinding landmark and fills the building with natural light.

Once inside the cancer centre, appropriate signage and information sources will be immediately available. Signage and wayfinding systems will transcend visual, cultural and language barriers, particularly those visual barriers that are prevalent in the elder population.
